The F3SG-4SRA0400-45 is an Omron F3SG-SR series safety light curtain rated for Arm/Foot detection with a 45 mm detection capability and a 40 mm beam pitch. Its 400 mm protective height and 10 beams cover a vertical zone sized for hand and lower-arm access at machine openings. The 0.3 m to 20.0 m operating range gives flexibility for both compact cells and longer aisle guarding, though the practical range at the 45 mm resolution is shorter than the headline maximum — the 20 m figure assumes a clean optical path and aligned reflectors. Supply is 24 VDC, standard for safety circuits. The ingress protection rating of IP65/IP67/IP67G means it handles washdown environments and oil mist — the IP67G suffix indicates additional oil resistance, common in machining centres where coolant mist is present.
The 45 mm detection capability is the key figure for safety distance calculation per ISO 13855 — it determines how close a person can be before the curtain triggers. At 45 mm, this curtain is rated for Arm/Foot protection, meaning it detects a hand or foot but not individual fingers. The 40 mm beam pitch is finer than the detection capability, which is typical: the pitch defines the spacing between adjacent beams, while the detection capability is the smallest object guaranteed to be detected anywhere in the field. The 10 beams at 40 mm pitch produce the 400 mm protective height. Blanking and muting functions are built in, allowing fixed or floating blanking to ignore stationary objects (e.g., a fixture) and muting to temporarily bypass the curtain during material transfer — both configurable without external modules.
