What the 14 mm detection means for your machine guarding
The F3SG-4SRA1600-14 is an Omron F3SG-SR series safety light curtain with a 14 mm detection capability, which qualifies as finger protection under IEC 61496-1/2. That 14 mm resolution means a finger reaching into the hazard zone gets caught before the operator can reach the dangerous moving parts. The 1600 mm protective height covers a standard conveyor or assembly station zone, and the 10 mm beam pitch (159 beams total) gives you fine enough resolution to detect small objects passing through the field. The 0.3 m to 10.0 m operating range lets you set it up close to the machine or across a wider aisle.
Built for the grease and washdown
Out here in the grease, ingress protection is what keeps a sensor alive. The F3SG-4SRA1600-14 carries an IP65/IP67/IP67G rating — dust tight, water resistant, waterproof, and oil resistant. The 'G' suffix means it's tested for oil immersion, so it'll survive the coolant mist and lubricant splash on a machining center or a food-and-bev washdown line. It runs on 24 VDC, which is standard for safety circuits, and spans -30 °C to 55 °C operating temperature — no need for a heated enclosure on an unheated warehouse floor.
Blanking and muting for production flow
The F3SG-4SRA1600-14 supports blanking and muting functions. Blanking lets you ignore fixed obstructions (like a fixture arm) in the detection field without breaking safety. Muting temporarily suspends the light curtain when a workpiece passes through on a conveyor, so you don't get nuisance trips during normal material flow. Both are configurable through the controller, not hard-wired, which saves panel space.
