What this light curtain does
The Omron F3SG-4SRA1600-25 is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the F3SG-SR series, built for hand protection with a 25 mm detection capability. That 25 mm resolution means it catches fingers and hands reaching into the hazard zone — not just a torso or arm — so it meets the finger-protection class per IEC 61496-1. With an 80-beam array and 20 mm beam pitch, it covers a 1600 mm protective height, which suits point-of-entry guarding on assembly stations, packaging machines, or robotic cells where you need a tall curtain but don't have room for multiple stacked units. Operating range spans 0.3 m to 20.0 m, so it works in tight spaces near the machine frame as well as across a wider access area. The 24 VDC supply is standard for safety circuits; no special power rail needed.
Built for washdown environments
Rated IP65/IP67/IP67G, meaning the housing and optics withstand hose-down cleaning and temporary immersion — the 'G' suffix indicates oil resistance, so it holds up on machining lines where coolant mist is constant. Temperature range from -30°C to 55°C covers unheated plant floors and refrigerated areas without derating. Blanking and muting functions are built in, which lets you configure the curtain to ignore fixed obstructions (like a conveyor rail) or temporarily bypass beams during a material pass. That saves adding external bypass relays or a separate safety controller for simple applications.
