The Omron F3SJ-A0470P55 is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the F3SJ-A series, designed for leg and body protection on access points. Its 55 mm detection capability means it reliably detects a person stepping through the field — sized for body intrusion, not hand or finger detection. The 470 mm protective height and 10 beams at 50 mm pitch cover a standard lower-body zone up to about waist height. Operating range spans 0.2 m to 9.0 m, so it works on short reach-in openings as well as wider machine perimeters. Powered by 24 VDC, with IP65 rating for dust and water resistance — suitable for washdown areas or outdoor-adjacent positions under cover.
Built-in features for production flexibility
Blanking and muting functions are integrated, which means you can let a workpiece pass through the field without stopping the machine (muting) or exclude a fixed obstruction like a fixture from the detection zone (blanking). These are typically optional on basic curtains; here they are standard, saving an external controller for many applications.
