The Omron F3SJ-A0500P25-TS is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the F3SJ-A series, rated for hand protection with a 25 mm detection capability. That 25 mm figure means it reliably detects a human finger or hand entering the field — the standard for point-of-operation guarding per IEC 61496-1/2. The 20 mm beam pitch and 25 beams create a 500 mm protective height, covering the typical reach zone around a press brake, assembly station, or robotic cell. Operating range spans 0.2 m to 9.0 m, so it works both in tight machine-mounting (200 mm from the emitter) and across wider access areas up to 9 meters.
Key features for integration
Built-in blanking and muting functions are the headline differentiators here. Blanking lets you optically mask fixed obstructions (brackets, chutes) within the field without disabling the entire curtain — you define the ignored zone in the controller. Muting temporarily suspends the safety output when a workpiece (not a person) passes through, which is essential for conveyor-fed stations where the curtain would otherwise trip on every pallet. Both are configurable without an external safety PLC, saving panel space and wiring. The bulk package means it ships as a single unit with emitter and receiver — no separate ordering of pairs.
