What this light curtain does
The Omron F3SJ-A0780P25-TS is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the F3SJ-A series, designed for hand protection with a 25mm detection capability. Its 39 beams at a 20mm pitch cover a 780mm protective height, catching a hand or finger reaching into a hazard zone before contact — that is the so-what of the 25mm detection figure: it meets the finger-protection class under IEC 61496-1 for safeguarding press brakes, assembly stations, and robotic cells.
Range and environment
Operating range spans 0.2m to 9.0m, so it works in both tight reach-in zones and longer perimeter spans. The IP65 rating means the emitter and receiver housings withstand washdown and dust ingress — suitable for food processing lines or machining areas where coolant mist is present. Supply is 24VDC, standard for safety circuits. Temperature range is -10°C to 55°C, covering most factory-floor conditions without derating.
Advanced functions
Built-in blanking and muting functions let the curtain ignore fixed obstructions (like a fixture post) or temporarily bypass during a material feed cycle — both configurable without an external controller. This saves panel space and wiring time on a press or assembly line where part flow passes through the light curtain.
