The Omron F3SJ-A2495P20 is a type-4 safety light curtain from the F3SJ-A series, rated for finger and hand protection with a 20mm detection capability. That 20mm figure means it catches a finger-sized object reaching into the hazard zone — the 15mm beam pitch is what makes that possible, giving you 166 beams across the 2495mm protective height. It covers a 0.2m to 7.0m operating range, so it suits guarding a large press opening or a robotic cell entry point. The IP65 rating means the emitter and receiver housings are dust-tight and withstand hose-directed water — fine for washdown areas in food processing or assembly lines where you need to spray down the guarding.
Built-in flexibility for production lines
Blanking and muting functions are built in. Blanking lets you block out fixed objects (like a part fixture) within the field without disabling the whole curtain — useful when a workpiece passes through the beam path during the cycle. Muting temporarily overrides the curtain when a pallet or cart enters the protected zone under controlled conditions, which is standard for conveyor-fed stations. These are configurable via the controller, not a separate module.
