The Omron G3PE-235B-2N is a 3-phase solid state relay (SSR) purpose-built for heater control — resistive loads only, no inductive or motor switching. It switches 35 A per phase at up to 240 VAC, driven by a 12-24 VDC control signal. Rated load voltage is 100 to 240 VAC (operating range 75 to 264 VAC), so it covers standard 200/208/240 VAC three-phase heater circuits common in industrial ovens, packaging seal bars, and injection-molding barrel heaters. The 35 A load current rating (at 40°C ambient) is the continuous current per phase. For a 200 VAC line, that translates to roughly 12.1 kW of heater load — enough for a medium-sized industrial oven zone.
Control input and switching behaviour
The DC control input accepts 12-24 VDC (operating range 9.6 to 30 VDC) and draws 10 mA max at 24 VDC. The release voltage is 1 VDC min, so the SSR drops out cleanly on a low signal — important for fail-safe heater cut-off in safety circuits. Zero-cross function is equipped, meaning the output turns on only at the AC voltage zero crossing. This reduces inrush current and electrical noise — critical for heater life and for keeping switching transients off the line feeding sensitive PLC or drive loads. Phototriac isolation separates the control side from the power side, providing galvanic isolation — no direct electrical path between the 24 VDC control and the 240 VAC heater circuit.

Integration notes
Minimum load current is 0.5 A — below that, the SSR may not switch reliably. If your heater element draws less than 0.5 A (e.g. a small cartridge heater), add a dummy load or select a different SSR. Inrush current resistivity is 440 A for 1 cycle at 60 Hz, and permissible I²t is 1260 A²s. This means the SSR can handle cold-start heater inrush without welding the output triac — a common failure mode in heater SSRs.
