The Omron G3PE-515B-2 is a three-phase solid state contactor purpose-built for heater loads — not a general-purpose SSR or a motor starter. It switches 15 A per phase across 200 to 480 VAC, with a zero-cross function that turns on and off at the voltage zero point to minimize inrush and electrical noise in resistive heater banks. The control side accepts 12 to 24 VDC, so it integrates directly with a PLC digital output or a 24 VDC control bus without an interposing relay. A yellow LED operation indicator gives a quick visual on the panel door that the contactor is energized.
Switching performance and isolation
Operate and release time are both 1/2 of the load power source cycle plus 1 ms max. At 50 Hz that's about 11 ms; at 60 Hz about 9.3 ms. The phototriac coupler provides 2,500 VAC dielectric strength between input and output for 1 minute, with insulation resistance of 100 MΩ minimum at 500 VDC. Leakage current is 20 mA max at 480 VAC — negligible for heater loads but enough to keep a small indicator lit if the load is disconnected.
Rated for -30 to 80°C operating ambient and 45% to 85% humidity. Shock resistance is 294 m/s² (about 30 g) in standard orientation, dropping to 98 m/s² (10 g) if reverse-mounted. Vibration resistance is 10 to 55 Hz at 0.375 mm single amplitude when mounted to DIN track — the screw-mount variant should meet similar figures but verify against the panel's resonant frequency. Storage temperature extends to 100°C, which covers most shipping and warehouse conditions.
