Three-phase SSR for heater control
The Omron G3PE-535B-3N is a three-phase solid state contactor purpose-built for resistive heater loads, rated 35 A at 200 to 480 VAC per phase. The 12 to 24 VDC input coil means a standard PLC digital output or relay can fire it directly, no interposing relay needed. The zero cross function turns the load on at the AC voltage zero crossing, which cuts the RFI and inrush current that can nuisance-trip upstream breakers on a cold heater bank.
The 35 A rating at 200 to 480 VAC is the load it can carry continuously — size your heater bank so the steady-state current per phase stays at or under that number. The 1.8 V RMS max output ON voltage drop means at 35 A you'll dissipate about 63 W per phase, so the DIN rail mounting needs some air circulation; don't pack it tight between two heat-generating drives. Leakage current is 20 mA max at 480 VAC, which is low enough that it won't falsely trigger a sensitive ground-fault relay on the branch circuit. Operate and release time are both 1/2 of load power source cycle + 1 ms max. At 50 Hz that's about 11 ms, at 60 Hz about 9.3 ms — fast enough for most temperature control loops, but not for synchronous switching applications. The phototriac coupler insulation gives 2,500 VAC dielectric strength between input and output, which is the safety isolation you need for a 480 VAC heater circuit controlled by a 24 VDC PLC.
