Safety controller with integrated logic and delay
The Omron G9SX-ADA222-T15-RT DC24 is a general-purpose safety controller from the G9SX series, operating on a 24 VDC supply. It is rated for safety applications up to Category 4, PLe, and SIL3, making it suitable for the highest risk-reduction requirements per ISO 13849 and IEC 62061. The unit provides 2 digital inputs and 6 solid-state safety outputs, plus 2 solid-state auxiliary outputs. The built-in delay timer is adjustable from 0 to 15 seconds, and the Logical AND I/O feature allows series connection of multiple G9SX units without external logic. Mounting is DIN rail; termination is via screw terminals. Approvals include CE, CSA, cULus, SUD, TUV, and UL.
What the safety category means for fit
The Category 4 / PLe / SIL3 rating means the controller is designed for single-fault tolerance with fault detection, and it can be used in safety functions where the residual failure probability is below 10⁻⁸ per hour. This is the typical requirement for safety gates, two-hand controls, and light curtain monitoring in high-risk machinery. The 6 solid-state safety outputs are internally monitored for shorts and cross-faults. Each output is rated for the listed load; the total current draw from the 24 VDC supply must be within the device's power budget per the datasheet thermal derating above 40°C.
Integration notes
The delay timer (0–15 s) is set via a rotary switch on the front face. The Logical AND I/O terminals allow cascading multiple G9SX units so that all input conditions must be satisfied before the safety outputs energize — no external safety PLC or relay logic required. Strip length per Omron's installation manual is 8 mm. The DIN rail mount uses a standard 35 mm rail per EN 60715.
