The Omron H7CZ-L8 is a 1-stage preset digital counter built for panel-mount counting applications where you need a clean count signal and a reliable output at a set point. It accepts 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, with a voltage fluctuation tolerance of 85% to 110% of rated supply. Power consumption runs about 9.4 VA at 100-240 VAC, or 7.2 VA / 4.7 W on 24 VAC or 12-24 VDC supply variants. Counting speed is switchable between 30 Hz and 10 kHz, with a 1:1 ON/OFF ratio. That 10 kHz rate handles fast-cycling parts on a pick-and-place or a high-speed packaging line; the 30 Hz position filters contact bounce on mechanical switches or relay outputs. Input mode is selectable for increment or decrement, so it works for both totalizing and countdown applications.
Output modes and timing
Output modes include N, F, C, R, K-1, P, Q, and A — these cover self-holding, one-shot, and batch-counting patterns common in batching or cut-to-length machines. One-shot output time is adjustable from 0.01 to 99.99 seconds, which lets you tailor the pulse width to a PLC input scan or a solenoid valve response. Reset can be external (minimum signal width selectable between 1 ms or 20 ms), manual, or automatic. The 1 ms setting works with fast PLC outputs; the 20 ms setting debounces a mechanical pushbutton. A prescaling function from 0.001 to 99.999 lets you scale encoder pulses to engineering units — useful for linear measurement with a rotary encoder.
Mounts flush or surface on a panel. External connections go through an 8-pin socket, so wiring is a plug-in affair — swap the counter without pulling wires. Sensor waiting time is 290 ms max, which matters if you're cycling power to the counter between batches; the count input won't miss the first pulse after power-up.
Environmental limits
Operating humidity range is 25% to 85%.
