Obsolete — sourcing reality for this Omron current monitor
Omron has marked the K8AB-AS1 100/115VAC as obsolete. No official successor or direct pin-compatible replacement is listed on the record — this is a legacy part that has exited the manufacturer's active catalog. For a BOM line that needs this exact order code, the supply path runs through independent surplus and broker channels. Availability and pricing are confirmed at RFQ against the specific quantity — no stock-holding claim is made here.
What this AC current sensing relay does in the panel
The K8AB-AS1 is a single-function current sensing relay for AC systems. It monitors a current loop via an external CT (not included) and trips the internal SPDT relay when the sensed current crosses the adjustable setpoint — trip range is 2 to 500 mA AC/DC. The output is a SPDT (1 Form C) relay rated 6 A at 250 VAC — enough to switch a contactor coil, alarm annunciator, or PLC input directly. The delay timer is adjustable from 0.1 to 30 seconds, which lets you ride through inrush or momentary dips without nuisance trips. Supply voltage is 100 to 115 VAC. It snaps onto a DIN rail and operates from -20°C to 60°C, so it lives in a control cabinet without derating for typical ambient conditions.
