Obsolete — Sourcing Reality for the K8AB-VS3
Omron lists the K8AB-VS3 24VAC/DC as obsolete. This means the factory has ended production; no new stock is being manufactured. Availability is through independent surplus and broker channels. Quantities are confirmed per RFQ — no blanket stock guarantee exists.
What the Ratings Mean for Your Panel
The trip range spans 20 to 600 V AC/DC, covering standard control voltages from 24 VDC through 480 VAC without needing a separate potential transformer for most applications. The adjustable delay from 0.1 to 30 seconds lets you ride through momentary sags or surges that would otherwise nuisance-trip a fixed-threshold relay — useful on motor-start or capacitor-switching circuits. The SPDT relay output switches 6 A at 250 VAC — enough to drive a contactor coil, alarm annunciator, or small motor load directly without an interposing relay. Supply voltage is 24 VAC/DC, so it runs off a common control transformer or DC power supply in the panel. The DIN-rail mount clips onto standard 35 mm rail.
Integration Note for Voltage Monitoring
The K8AB-VS3 monitors its own supply voltage — the trip threshold is set as a percentage of the nominal supply. For a 24 VDC control bus, set the trip point within the 20-600 V range to detect undervoltage or overvoltage conditions. Operating temperature range is -20°C to 60°C, suitable for most indoor control cabinets without forced cooling. The box package is the standard individual unit.
