Sysmac NJ1 CPU with database link
The Omron NJ101-1020 runs a 1 ms primary task cycle, integrating motion control for 2 synchronous axes (6 total including virtual) with database connectivity in a single controller. Variable memory is 0.5 MB, sufficient for mid-size machine sequences. Communication backbone is the CJ I/O Bus, with EtherCAT Master and EtherNet/IP onboard. Expansion accommodates up to 40 units and 64 remote I/O nodes. Fieldbus options via option boards: CAN, CompoNet, DeviceNet, MODBUS, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, serial RS-232C, RS-422, RS-485, and EtherCAT Slave.
Panel and expansion planning
Unit dimensions are 9 cm per side, cubic form factor. Mounting follows standard Sysmac backplane. Allow for module access on the left side for expansion units. Primary task cycle at 1 ms sets the baseline for motion interpolation and ladder execution. For applications requiring faster IO response, consider using the EtherCAT slave ports for distributed I/O. Database connectivity allows direct SQL queries from the control program, eliminating a separate middleware PC. Ensure network access via the EtherNet/IP port.
