The NJ501-4400 is an NJ-series motion control CPU handling up to 32 axes over EtherCAT. 32K words of battery-backed memory. Expands to 40 modules across three racks. Mounts on DIN rail; operates 0 to 55°C. Software is SYSMAC Studio. Communications include EtherCAT, Ethernet, and USB.
Where it fits
This CPU is sized for high-speed machine control — packaging, assembly, printing, or any application demanding coordinated multi-axis motion. The EtherCAT backbone handles real-time axis synchronization; Ethernet and USB handle programming, HMI, and IT connectivity. With 32-axis capacity, it covers mid-range to large machines without a separate motion controller. Expandability allows up to 40 I/O and specialty modules on three racks, giving headroom for analog, safety, or additional network interfaces alongside the motion loops.
How it compares
The CJ2M-CPU14 shares the same 40-module, 3-rack expandability and DIN-rail mounting, but its 160K word memory runs CX-One software and communicates via RS-232C and USB — no native EtherCAT. The NJ501-4400 adds integrated 32-axis motion control over EtherCAT and uses SYSMAC Studio. Choose the NJ501 if the application requires embedded motion; the CJ2M is a general-purpose logic CPU.
Approvals and compliance
Carries CE, cULus, Lloyd, and NK approvals — suited for machinery exported to the EU, North America, and marine applications.
