What it is, and where it sits
The NX-ECC201 is an Omron NX-series Communications Module — a PLC backplane accessory that lives on the DIN rail next to an NX CPU and handles the fieldbus traffic the CPU delegates. DIN-rail mounting is the only mechanical interface called out, so it drops into the same row as any other NX-series slice and needs no separate subpanel cutout.
Wiring and supply envelope
Supply range is 5 to 24 VDC, so a single 24 V cabinet rail covers it without a separate PSU stage — worth checking only if the cabinet runs the CPU off the lower 5 V tap. Termination is dual: RJ45 for the network side and spring-cage for power and any local I/O. The spring terminals accept ferruled or solid conductors per the usual NX pitch, so no special tooling is needed at panel build. Operating temperature is 0 °C to 55 °C, which is the standard NX cabinet envelope; no special derating is called out for sealed enclosures at that span.
Compliance footprint
The module carries CE, cULus, C-Tick, KC, Lloyd, and NK approvals — enough to ship into North American, European, Korean, Australian, and ship-class (Lloyd's / NK) panels without a separate cert review.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Lifecycle is Active and current, so the part is not on a last-time-buy clock — standard procurement terms apply and the BOM line does not need a phase-out rider.
Cross-reference and same-rail siblings
NX-ECC202 is the closest functional second-source — same Communications Module type, same NX series, same DIN-rail / RJ45 + spring / 5–24 VDC envelope, same approvals and operating range. For a panel already specified around the ECC202, the ECC201 drops in without mechanical or wiring rework.
