Overview
The NX-TC3405 is an Omron NX-series temperature control module, order code NX-TC3405, providing four analog inputs for thermocouple or RTD sensors and four voltage outputs for driving external SSRs. It is a DIN-rail-mounted module with spring-cage terminals, rated for a 50 ms conversion time per input and includes heater burnout detection as a standard feature.
This module performs closed-loop temperature control — either heat or cool — using a free-running signal processing mode. The four analog inputs accept standard thermocouple or RTD signals; each input is isolated from the others, which prevents ground loops in multi-zone heater banks. The four PNP/PWM voltage outputs drive external SSRs, with a 50 ms conversion time per channel that keeps the loop response tight enough for most plastic, packaging, and food-processing thermal zones. Heater burnout detection — a dedicated diagnostic — monitors current draw on each output and flags a broken heater element without additional external current transformers. This is a practical differentiator for maintenance teams who need to spot a failed heater before the product quality drifts.
Applications
The NX-TC3405 is used in industrial temperature control applications — injection molding barrel zones, extrusion barrel heaters, packaging seal bars, hot-runner manifolds, and food-processing ovens. It integrates into an Omron NX I/O bus alongside digital I/O, safety, and motion modules, sharing the same backplane and configuration software (Sysmac Studio).
