The NX102-1000 is a current-production EtherCAT master PLC from Omron’s NX1 series, sized for motion and sequence control with up to 4 point-to-point axes. It packs 5 MB of program memory and 33.5 MB of data memory into a DIN-rail or panel-mount package with push-in terminals. The 24 V supply range (20–24 V) keeps it in line with standard control panel power.
Expansion and fieldbus architecture
The NX1 CPU handles up to 32 expansion units on the NX I/O bus and 64 remote EtherCAT nodes. Onboard EtherCAT Master and EtherNet/IP give it dual-protocol flexibility — useful for mixed-vendor lines where one network carries motion and the other carries supervisory data. OPC UA is built in, so higher-level analytics have direct access without a gateway.
Real-time clock and battery backup are on board, so the controller maintains time-stamped alarms and retentive data across power cycles. Programming is done in Ladder or Structured Text via Omron’s Sysmac Studio.
