Where the NX1P2 sits vs the bigger siblings
The NX502-1700 and NX701-Z700 are several classes up — they run 80 MB program memory vs this unit's 1.0 MB, and handle 256 coordinated axes vs zero on the NX1P2. I/O expandability is also far beyond: the NX502 can address 1024 local points and thousands more through couplers, while the NX1P2 tops out at 808 total. If your BOM calls for a NX1P2, the bigger units are overkill and won't drop into the same DIN footprint or power budget.
Rough I/O budget and expansion
Up to 8 local I/O units directly on the CPU; total system including coupler nodes is 24 units. That's a soft limit for smaller standalone machines — if you need more than 8 local slices, plan on an NX coupler to access the larger I/O count. The 2 ms minimum cycle time keeps scan rates adequate for most packaging or material handling lines, but not sub-millisecond servo loops.
