The Omron S8VK-C12024 is a 120 W switch-mode power supply that takes a single-phase 100...240 VAC input and delivers a regulated 24 V DC output at up to 5 A. This is the standard control voltage for PLCs, sensors, relays, and HMI panels, so it's a common building block in any control cabinet. The output is adjustable, which gives you a few volts of headroom to compensate for voltage drop on long DC runs to field devices. The IP20 rating means it's for inside an enclosure only — no washdown exposure. A green DC OK LED on the front gives a quick visual that the output is up and within tolerance.
The 120 W / 5 A at 24 V DC is the continuous rating. If you're loading it near the limit, keep an eye on ambient temperature — the datasheet derating curve kicks in above 40 °C. The 88% efficiency means less heat to manage inside the cabinet, which helps with thermal budgeting in a sealed enclosure. Input range covers 85 to 264 VAC, 47 to 450 Hz, so it works on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz mains without a jumper change. The 3000 V insulation voltage between input and output gives you basic isolation for the DC control circuit. Ripple and noise are spec'd at 0.12 V — that's 120 mV peak-to-peak, which is tight enough for most analog sensors and PLC input cards. If you're feeding a sensitive analog circuit, you might still add a small output capacitor at the load end, but for general control power this is clean enough straight off the terminals.
The compliance package is solid for North American and European panels: UL Listed to UL 508 and UL 62368-1, CSA C22.2 No. 107.1, CE marked to EN 62368-1 and EN 62477-1, and EN 55011 Class A for conducted emissions. That covers most industrial control panels without additional filtering.
