480 W, 24 VDC, 20 A — with managed comms
The Omron S8VK-X48024A-EIP is a DIN-rail switch-mode power supply delivering 480 W at 24 VDC, rated for 20 A continuous output. It accepts 100 to 240 VAC input and includes EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP communications for real-time monitoring of output voltage, current, and internal temperature. A 150% power boost for up to 10 seconds handles inrush from inductive loads or motor starters without oversizing the unit. Parallel and series operation (up to two units) allows scaling for higher current or redundancy.
The 480 W / 20 A rating is the continuous capability at 24 VDC — sized for a bank of 24 VDC valves, a small PLC rack plus I/O, or a couple of small DC motors. The 150% boost means it can supply 30 A for 10 seconds, enough to start a DC motor or charge a capacitor bank without tripping. The preventive maintenance alarm output (via local indicator or EtherNet/IP) flags when the internal temperature or fan-less natural-convection cooling is approaching the limit — a heads-up before the supply folds back or drops out. That is the difference between a planned PM and a line-down event.
Carries UL 508, cUL to CSA C22.2, cUR to CSA C22.2, Lloyds marine, and PELV (Protective Extra Low Voltage) — so it is accepted for North American industrial panels, marine environments, and safety-related low-voltage circuits. The PELV rating means the output is reliably isolated from mains, important for control circuits where a ground fault on the 24 V side must not become a shock hazard.
Dimensions are 124 H x 60 W x 121.4 D mm — fits a single-module width in most enclosures. Push-In Plus terminals accept 0.2 to 2.5 mm² solid or ferruled stranded wire; strip length is 8 mm.
