The Schneider BMXNRP0200C is an active Modicon X80 fibre optic repeater – a 2-port copper RJ45 plus 2-port multimode LC converter, rated for 100BASE-FX and 100BASE-TX. It bridges two fibre segments up to 2000 m apart over 50/125 or 62.5/125 μm multimode, with typical attenuation of -23.5...-14 dB on the 50/125 path. Built for severe environments: conformal coating, IP20, gas/dust/salt/mold resistance per ISA S71.04 and IEC 60721-3-3, plus Class I Division 2 hazardous location. That means it can sit in a panel at a substation or on the factory floor without a separate enclosure for mild corrosive atmospheres. Receiver sensitivity of -31...-14 dBm and a 1310 nm wavelength ensure reliable link budgets on the fibre side. The 3 ns rise/fall time keeps jitter in check for deterministic control traffic.
Compliance documentation covers CE, UL 61010-2-201, CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201, ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, IACS, and IEC 61000-6-5 (interface types 1 and 2) plus IEC 61850-3 for substation EMC. That bundle covers most industrial and utility approvals in one part.
Installation notes
Slot fits an X80 rack – 86 mm deep, 32 mm wide, 100 mm high. Draws 140 mA typical, 200 mA max from the 24 V backplane. Hot-swap capable, so no system power-down when replacing a failed unit. The 1400 V DC dielectric strength between field and bus isolates the fibre ports from the backplane – important if the fibre runs outdoors and picks up transients. No special connector tooling: standard LC multimode patch cables on the fibre side, RJ45 on the copper. One green LED per link, one red for error, two green for fibre port status. Strips at a glance.
