ComPacT NS800L basic frame – 800 A, 4P drawout
The C080L4WM is a basic frame from the Schneider Electric ComPacT NS630b…1600 new generation range — a 4-pole, manually operated, withdrawable air circuit breaker frame rated 800 A at 50 °C. It carries no integral protection (no trip unit), so it is the chassis you build a distribution breaker around: you add a compatible Micrologic control unit to set the protection curves. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 150 kA Icu at 415 V AC, 130 kA at 440 V, and 100 kA at 500/525 V — all per IEC 60947-2. That puts it in the high-fault tier for industrial main switchboards and large distribution panels where fault currents can exceed 100 kA. The Ics (service breaking capacity) matches the Icu values at the same voltages, meaning the breaker can be reclosed after a fault at full rating without derating. Withdrawable (drawout) mounting means the breaker chassis stays bolted to the backplate while the moving portion racks out for inspection or swap — no need to disconnect main power cables. The neutral pole is on the left; connection pitch is 70 mm.
If your panel runs hotter, you derate per the manufacturer's curve — but the frame itself is sized for the full 800 A in typical switchroom conditions. The 40 W power loss figure tells you the heat the frame dissipates at rated current; factor that into your enclosure ventilation calcs. Impulse withstand (Uimp) is 8 kV, which covers overvoltage category III installations. Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles; electrical durability varies by voltage and current — 2,000 cycles at 690 V at In, 4,000 cycles at 440 V at In/2. That is typical for a drawout frame in distribution service where it operates a few times a year, not daily switching.
Mounts on a backplate via the withdrawable cradle. The frame is 306 mm wide, 260 mm high, 147 mm deep — substantial, but standard for an 800 A drawout. IP40 front face protection; IK07 impact resistance. The front face is Class II insulated (no earth connection needed on the operator side). The integral instant protection rating of 40 kA is a mechanical withstand figure for the frame itself when no trip unit is installed — the actual protection setting comes from the control unit you add.
Because this is a basic frame without a control unit, verify that the Micrologic trip unit you plan to use is compatible with the NS800L frame. The frame accepts the same plug-in control units as the rest of the NS630b…1600 range.
