What it is and what the ratings mean
The Schneider Electric C11N4TM050B is a ComPacT NSXm 4-pole moulded-case circuit breaker rated 50 A at 40 °C with a TM-D thermal-magnetic trip unit. The 50 kA at 415 V AC breaking capacity (performance level N) means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream fuses or breakers needing to clear it — a key figure for panel SCCR compliance. The 4P configuration (four protected poles) makes it suitable for three-phase plus neutral distribution where the neutral needs overcurrent protection, common in commercial and light industrial switchboards.
Standards and approvals
Designed and tested to EN/IEC 60947-2, the standard for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear — specifically the circuit-breaker section covering overload and short-circuit protection. The suitability-for-isolation marking (IEC 60947-2) confirms it provides a visible air gap when open, so it can serve as a disconnecting means in a panel without a separate isolator. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60664-1 means it is rated for conductive pollution in controlled environments (typical of most enclosed switchboards). Overvoltage category III places it in the fixed-installation class, downstream of the main distribution board. IP40 front face keeps tools and fingers out; IK07 impact resistance handles accidental knocks during maintenance.
Mounting and integration
Mounts flat on a backplate (horizontal or vertical) at 9 mm pitches (12 modules wide). Front connection top and bottom accepts compression lugs or busbars — no DIN-rail clip, so plan for direct panel mounting with a 35 mm pitch between phases (27 mm without spreaders). The grey RAL 7016 housing is standard for Schneider's ComPacT range. Neutral is on the left; the toggle control gives clear ON/OFF indication, and a green flag signals presence of auxiliary contacts when fitted.
