It is a 4-pole (4P) device rated 400 A at 40 °C, designed for distribution applications per EN/IEC 60947-2.
At 690 V AC the rating drops to 45 kA Icu — still sufficient for most 690 V distribution, but the derating curve matters when coordinating with downstream devices. The MicroLogic 5.3 E provides L (long-time overload), S (short-time short-circuit), and I (instantaneous) protection curves. The electronic trip unit includes thermal memory with a 20-minute retention before and after tripping — meaning a reclose after a thermal trip will account for the residual heat in the conductors, preventing nuisance trips on a hot restart.
Durability and mounting
Mechanical durability is rated at 15,000 cycles; electrical durability at 440 V In is 6,000 cycles, halving to 3,000 cycles at 690 V In. These figures govern maintenance intervals in high-cycle applications like conveyor or pump panels. The breaker mounts to a backplate (not DIN rail) and can be installed horizontally or vertically flat on the back — a consideration for enclosure layout and cable entry. Front-facing upside and downside connections simplify busbar or cable routing in a panel. The 45 mm connection pitch matches standard ComPacT NSX busbar systems.
