What this 400 A MCCB delivers in a distribution panel
The C40R46E400 is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NSX400R molded case circuit breaker with a 400 A MicroLogic 6.3 E electronic trip unit, rated for distribution duty. The 4-pole construction with neutral on the left suits it for three-phase plus neutral distribution in a backplate-mounted panel.
Trip unit and protection logic
The MicroLogic 6.3 E provides L (long-time overload), S (short-time short-circuit), I (instantaneous short-circuit), and G (ground-fault) protection, all configurable via the front LCD display. That matters for a pump or compressor that trips on overload and gets restarted before the windings have shed the heat.
The R breaking capacity code means 200 kA Icu at 415 V AC, and the same 200 kA holds at 220/240 V and 440 V. At 500 V it drops to 80 kA, at 525 V to 65 kA, and at 690 V to 45 kA.
Durability and mounting
Mechanical durability is 15 000 cycles; electrical durability at 440 V full-rated current is 6 000 cycles, and at half-rated current (200 A) it reaches 12 000 cycles. At 690 V the electrical endurance drops to 3 000 cycles at full current and 6 000 at half current. Mounting is horizontal or vertical on a backplate, with front-facing connections on both the line and load sides. The 185 mm width and 110 mm depth fit a standard distribution cubicle, and the IK07 impact rating means it survives a hammer strike during panel assembly without the enclosure cracking.
