The C63V45E630 is a 4-pole ComPacT NSX molded case circuit breaker rated 630 A at 40 °C, built around the MicroLogic 5.3 E electronic trip unit. That trip unit gives you L (long-time overload), S (short-time short-circuit), and I (instantaneous) protection curves — the E designation means it includes energy metering as a native function, so you get power quality data, demand values, and time-stamped event logs without an add-on module. Breaking capacity sits at 85 kA Icu at 500 V AC (50/60 Hz), 80 kA at 525 V, and 75 kA at 690 V, all per IEC 60947-2. Mechanical durability is 15,000 cycles; electrical durability ranges from 8,000 cycles at 440 V at half rated current down to 2,000 cycles at 690 V at full In. For a distribution-grade MCCB in a fixed-backplate mount, those numbers align with a switchboard or main panel position where switching frequency is moderate.
Integration and mounting notes
Mounts flat on a backplate, either horizontal or vertical. Connection pitch is 45 mm, with both upside and downside connections on the front — no rear-access requirement, so it retrofits into existing panel layouts without re-terminating busbars. The toggle control and LCD display give local status: green flashing LED for ready-to-operate, red at 105% Ir for overload, orange at 90% Ir for pre-alarm.
Category A utilization (no intentional short-time delay for selectivity) means this breaker is designed for instantaneous or short-time protection coordinated with downstream devices, not for selective coordination with an upstream breaker requiring a deliberate delay. The MicroLogic 5.3 E's S protection (short-time) can be set with a delay, but the breaker itself is Category A — the delay is internal to the trip unit, not a mechanical feature. For full selectivity in a main-tie-main configuration, pair it with a Category B breaker upstream. Above 40 °C, or at altitudes above 2000 m, derating applies per the manufacturer's curves. The 0–2000 m range is no-derating; 2000–5000 m requires derating. Relative humidity up to 95% is within the operating envelope for indoor switchgear.
