The Schneider Electric TeSys F CR1F185GZ7 is a 3-pole magnetic latching contactor rated for 185 A operational current (AC-4 duty at ≤440 V, 40 °C) and a conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) of 275 A at 40 °C. It is designed for motor control and resistive load switching, covering utilisation categories AC-1, AC-3, and AC-4. The 127 V DC low-consumption coil latches in 35–40 ms and unlatches in 50–100 ms, drawing 500 W DC during latching and 20 W DC during unlatching. Motor power ratings span 55 kW at 220–230 V AC up to 110 kW at 690 V AC (50/60 Hz). Under UL/CSA, it handles 150 hp at 575–600 V AC for three-phase motors. The 1000 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) per IEC 60947-4 and 8 kV rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) make it suitable for 480 V and 600 V class panels with headroom.
The 185 A AC-4 rating is the motor-switching current at ≤440 V — this is the figure that governs contactor selection for reversing or plugging duty where the load is switched under full motor current. For resistive loads (AC-1), the Ith of 275 A at 40 °C is the thermal limit; the contactor can carry that current continuously, but switching life and dissipation differ. Power dissipation per pole runs 12 W in AC-3 and 26 W in AC-1, which matters for enclosure heat buildup in a multi-contactor panel. Rated breaking capacity is 1800 A at 220–440 V, dropping to 600 A at 1000 V — this is the fault-clearing ability the contactor can interrupt without welding. The rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 1500 A for 1 second at 40 °C, so the contactor coordinates with upstream fuses rated 200 A aM or 315 A gG/gG at ≤440 V. For a BOM freeze, these fuse associations are the ones to specify on the line diagram.
Integration notes
Dimensions are 7.1 in (181 mm) deep, 6.6 in (168.5 mm) wide, and 6.9 in (174 mm) tall. Terminals accept bars (2 × 25 × 3 mm), lugs-ring terminals up to 0.2 in² (150 mm²), or a connector of the same cross-section. Tightening torque is 159.3 lbf·in (18 N·m) — a torque wrench is expected for the power connections. The protective treatment (TH) indicates tropicalisation for humid environments. Maximum operating rate is 120 cycles per hour at 40 °C. Mechanical durability is 1 million cycles. The coil control voltage limits are 0.85 to 1.1 Uc for both latching and unlatching, so the 127 V DC supply must stay within 108–140 V DC for reliable operation.
