The Schneider CR1F265T7 is a TeSys F magnetic latching contactor with three normally open power poles, rated for 265 A in AC-3 duty at ≤440 V 40 °C. The coil is 480 V AC 50/60 Hz, and it's a latching type: the coil draws 1650 VA to latch, then drops to 9 VA to hold, meaning the coil supply can be removed once latched without the contactor dropping out. That's the core difference from a standard contactor — useful in applications where continuous coil power is undesirable or where you need the contactor to stay closed through a control-voltage dip.
The utilisation categories cover AC-1 (resistive), AC-3 (squirrel-cage motor starting), and AC-4 (plugging/reversing/inching). The 265 A AC-3 rating is the headline motor-switching number; the AC-1 resistive rating is higher at 350 A (Ith 350 A at 50 Hz, 0.32 mOhm average impedance per pole). For AC-4 duty, the rated operational current drops to 245 A at ≤440 V 40 °C — so if your application involves frequent reversing or inching, use the AC-4 figure, not the AC-3 one. The rated breaking capacity is 2450 A at 220–440 V, 2200 A at 500 V, 1700 A at 660/690 V, and 800 A at 1000 V — this is the maximum fault current the contactor can interrupt without damage, not the continuous rating. Associated fuse ratings are 315 A aM, 400 A BS88, and 400 A gG at ≤440 V — these are the maximum fuse sizes for coordinated short-circuit protection.
The control circuit is AC 50/60 Hz at 480 V nominal. The latching coil draws 1650 VA inrush (latching) and 9 VA sealed (unlatching). Operating time is 40 to 75 ms for latching, 50 to 100 ms for unlatching. Control voltage limits are 0.85 to 1.1 Uc for both latching and unlatching — so the coil must see between 408 V and 528 V to reliably operate. The contactor is rated for operation at altitudes up to 3000 m without derating, and ambient temperature range is -15 to 70 °C operating, -60 to 80 °C storage.
Installation and connections
Terminals accept lugs, ring terminals, or bars — up to 240 mm² per pole, or two 32 x 4 mm bars. Tightening torque is 35 N·m (309.8 lbf·in). The contactor is 3-pole (3 NO) with a depth of 213 mm (8.4 in), width 201.5 mm (7.9 in), height 203 mm (8.0 in). Mechanical durability is rated at 1 million cycles. Maximum operating rate is 120 cycles per hour at 40 °C. This is a panel-mount component — typically bolted to a backplate or mounted on a DIN-rail adapter (not included). The protective treatment is TC (standard tropicalised coating).
