The Schneider Electric TeSys F CR1F400E7 is a 3-pole magnetic latching contactor rated for 400 A operational current in AC-3 duty, with a 48 V AC/DC control coil. The latching mechanism holds the main contacts closed without continuous coil power — the coil draws 1600 VA during the latching pulse and only 16 VA to unlatch, which cuts heat buildup and standby losses in applications where the contactor stays closed for long periods.
Rated 400 A in AC-3 (motor switching) and 500 A in AC-1 (resistive load) at ≤ 440 V, 40 °C. Short-time withstand current is 3600 A for 1 second at 40 °C, which gives upstream protection devices time to clear without the contactor failing. Insulation voltage is rated 1000 V per IEC 60947-4 and BS 775, and 1500 V per VDE 0110 group C. The coil operates reliably between 85% and 110% of rated control voltage for both latching and unlatching, so a 48 V control supply with reasonable regulation is sufficient.
Physical Integration and Wiring
The contactor measures 8.6 in deep by 8.4 in wide by 8.1 in tall, sized for bolting into a panel backplate rather than snapping onto a DIN rail. Terminals accept lugs or ring terminals up to 150 mm² cable, or bars up to 30 x 5 mm. Tightening torque is 35 N.m on the main power connections — a torque wrench is expected during installation. The three main poles are all normally open (3 NO), which is the standard configuration for a line contactor. Altitude rating is 3000 m without derating.
