The 700 A AC-1 free-air thermal current (Ith) is the resistive-load ceiling, relevant for heater banks or distribution. Don't confuse them: AC-3 is the motor rating, AC-1 is the resistive rating, and the contactor's dissipation per pole reflects the difference — 45 W per pole in AC-3, 88 W in AC-1. Rated breaking capacity is 5000 A at 220…440 V, 4500 A at 500 V, and 3560 A at 600…690 V — these are the fault-clearing numbers for the power circuit. The making capacity is also 5000 A. Associated fuse recommendations are 800 A gG or BS88, or 500 A aM, for the power circuit. That's your selectivity starting point.
