The CR1F500GZ7 is a TeSys F magnetic latching contactor from Schneider Electric — 3-pole, rated 500 A operational current (AC-1/AC-3/AC-4), with a 127 V DC low-consumption latching coil. It switches motor loads up to 335 kW at 1000 V AC, or 500 hp under UL/CSA at 575–600 V. The latching mechanism holds the main contacts closed without continuous coil power — the coil draws 550 W only during the 40–80 ms latching pulse, then drops to zero hold current. Unlatching takes 50–100 ms at 60 W.
The 500 A rated operational current (Ie) is the motor-switching figure under AC-3 duty at ≤440 V. That is the number that governs real motor starts and stops. The conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) is 700 A at 40 °C — that is the resistive (AC-1) limit for non-motor loads like heaters or distribution. The short-time withstand (Icw) holds 4200 A for 1 second, which matters for coordination with upstream protective devices during a fault. Rated breaking capacity runs 5000 A at 220–440 V, tapering to 2500 A at 1000 V. The insulation voltage (Ui) is rated 1000 V per IEC 60947-4, with impulse withstand at 8 kV. Associated fuse recommendations are 500 A aM or 800 A gG/BS88 at ≤440 V — that is the short-circuit protection envelope the contactor was tested with.
Where you'd use it
This is a heavy-duty motor contactor for large induction motors — pumps, compressors, conveyors, crushers — in the 250–335 kW range depending on line voltage. The magnetic latching variant is common in crane and hoist controls, UPS-backed emergency circuits, solar-pump drives, and any installation where a contactor must stay closed through a control-power dip without a battery-backed coil supply. The 3-pole configuration handles three-phase loads; the 127 V DC coil is a specific control voltage, so verify your control transformer or DC supply matches the 0.85–1.1 Uc operating range.
Dimensions are 233 mm wide by 238 mm high by 232 mm deep — a substantial footprint, not a DIN-rail component. Mounting is via the base plate with lugs or ring terminals accepting up to two 240 mm² cables per pole, or busbars up to 40 x 5 mm cross-section. Tightening torque on the power connections is 35 N·m. The TH protective treatment (tropicalization) means it is built for humid or corrosive environments, not just a clean panel. Operating temperature range is -15 to 70 °C, storage -60 to 80 °C, with no derating required up to 3000 m altitude.
