The Schneider Electric TeSys F CR1F500L7 is a 3-pole magnetic latching contactor rated for heavy motor and resistive loads. It's built to stay in its last commanded state without continuous coil power—latching on a pulse, unlatching on a separate pulse—so it won't drop out on a control-voltage sag. The key rating is 500 A rated operational current in AC-4 duty (reversing or inching), which is the punishing category: full motor current at make and break. For AC-3 (start/run) it's rated at 700 A, meaning it handles a bigger motor on standard starting duty than the AC-4 number suggests. Motor power spans 335 kW at 690 V down to 147 kW at 220 V, all at 50/60 Hz. For UL/CSA installs, the HP ratings are 500 hp at 575 V, 400 hp at 460 V, 200 hp at 240 V. The control circuit takes 208 V AC 50-400 Hz or 208 V DC, with a latching coil draw of 1800 VA and unlatching at 13 VA. That latching surge matters for your DC supply sizing if you're running it off a power supply—1800 VA at 208 V DC is about 8.7 A inrush.
Mounts on a Notched AM1-EC rail—that's a specific DIN-rail variant for TeSys F contactors, not the standard symmetrical DIN rail. The footprint is 9.4 in high, 9.2 in wide, 9.1 in deep (238 x 233 x 232 mm). Terminals accept lugs or ring terminals up to 240 mm², or bars 40 x 5 mm. Tightening torque is 309.8 lbf·in (35 N·m)—that's a serious torque, so a torque wrench is mandatory for the power terminations. The operating temperature range is -15 to 70 °C, storage -60 to 80 °C. Altitude rating is 3000 m without derating, which covers most sites.
Breaking capacity and protection
Rated breaking capacity is 5000 A at 220-440 V, 4500 A at 500 V, 3560 A at 660/690 V, and 2500 A at 1000 V. The rated making capacity is also 5000 A. Associated fuse recommendations: 500 A aM, 800 A BS88, or 800 A gG at ≤ 440 V for the power circuit. For AC-3 duty, power dissipation is 45 W per pole; for AC-1 resistive loads, it's 88 W per pole—so thermal management in the enclosure matters, especially at full continuous current.
Meets IEC 60947-4 (contactor standard), VDE 0660, BS 5424, NF C 63-110, and JEM 1038. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4 and BS 775. Protective treatment is TH (tropicalized). The lifecycle status is current production—still in the active catalog, no end-of-life notice. Mechanical durability is 1 million cycles.
