Product details

The Schneider CR1F500PF7 is a TeSys F magnetic latching contactor — a three-pole, normally-open power switching device rated for 500 A in AC-4 duty (250 kW at 400 V AC, 50/60 Hz). Magnetic latching means the coil draws power only to change state — 1800 VA on latching, 13 VA on unlatching — then holds position magnetically without continuous coil current. This makes it suited for applications where sustained hold-in power is undesirable or unavailable. The control circuit accepts both AC and DC at 110 V or 230 V (50...400 Hz for AC), with latching and unlatching voltage limits of 0.85...1.1 Uc.

This contactor is a bolted-down unit — power connections use lugs, ring terminals (up to 2× 240 mm² cable per pole), or busbars up to 40×5 mm cross-section. Tightening torque is 35 N.m on the power circuit connections. Dimensions are 238 mm high × 233 mm wide × 232 mm deep. It is not a DIN-rail snap-on device; plan for direct panel mounting with clearance for bolted busbar connections and cable bending radius.

For AC-3 (running start/stop of squirrel-cage motors) the thermal current Ith is 700 A, and the contactor is also rated for AC-1 resistive loads. Breaking capacity is 5000 A at 220...440 V, derating to 2500 A at 1000 V. Short-time withstand (Icw) is 4200 A for up to 10 seconds at 40 °C, tapering to 1200 A for 10 minutes — useful for coordinating with upstream protective devices. Power dissipation runs 45 W per pole in AC-3 and 88 W per pole in AC-1 — factor that into enclosure thermal calculations, especially at the 120 cycles/hour maximum operating rate at 40 °C.

If you are evaluating a migration, the TeSys F series has been superseded by later TeSys ranges, but no pin-for-pin or footprint-identical drop-in replacement is documented for this specific latching variant. A panel re-engineering may be required to accommodate a modern equivalent.
