Overview
The CR1F630MZ7 is a Schneider TeSys F magnetic latching contactor, 3-pole (3 NO), rated for AC-3 switching at 630 A up to 440 V. The coil is 220 V DC with low inrush consumption, and the power circuit terminates on bolted bars (2 x 60 x 5 mm).
Function & operation
As a magnetic latching contactor, the CR1F630MZ7 uses a DC pulse to close and a separate pulse to open, holding the contacts magnetically without continuous coil power. This cuts standby losses — average consumption is 620 W during the latching pulse and 45 W during unlatching, versus an AC-held contactor that draws power continuously. The 630 A switching current (AC-3) and 6740 A rated making capacity suit motor starting and heavy inductive loads. The associated fuse rating is 630 A aM at 1000 A, or BS88/gG at ≤440 V. Breaking capacity (Icu) is 6.3 kA. Operating time is 40 ms, and the maximum operating rate is 120 cycles per hour at 104 °F (40 °C). Mechanical life is rated at 1 million cycles. Average impedance is 0.12 mOhm at 1000 A, 50 Hz. The contactor is rated for insulation voltage of 1000 V and can operate at altitudes up to 9842.52 ft. Storage temperature range is -76 to 176 °F (-60 to 80 °C).
Applications
TeSys F contactors of this size are used in motor control centers, pump and compressor panels, conveyor drives, and heavy machinery where high inrush currents and frequent switching are common. The latching coil makes it a fit for battery-backed or UPS-fed systems where continuous coil draw would drain reserves.
