What this GS1GB4 is and what it does
The GS1GB4 is a fuse switch disconnector body from the TeSys GS range — a 4-pole unit that takes BS-type fuses and switches motor loads up to 63 A in AC-23 duty. It's the body only, so you add the operating handle (external right-side or frontal) and the fuses separately. Rated 63 A across AC-23A and AC-23B at 400 V, 500 V, and 690 V, with a breaking capacity of 500 A at 400 V AC-23B. The making capacity is 630 A at the same duty — meaning it can close onto a fault without welding contacts, which matters when you're restoring power to a motor circuit that might have a downstream short. Rated operational power runs from 30 kW at 400 V AC-23 up to 55 kW at 690 V AC-23, so it covers a solid range of motor sizes depending on your line voltage.
Lifecycle reality — obsolete, sourced through independent channels
We source it through independent surplus and broker channels — quantities are lot-specific, and availability is confirmed at the time of your RFQ.
Mounting and panel fit
IP20 with the terminal cover fitted — that's finger-safe but not washdown-rated, so keep it inside the panel, not on the machine face. The body meets IEC 60695-2-1 glow-wire at 1760 °F (960 °C) for the body and 1562 °F (850 °C) for the fuse cover, which is the standard for flame-retardant enclosures.
Standards and approvals
Designed to IEC 60947-3 (switch-disconnector standard), IEC 60269-1 and IEC 60269-2 (fuse standards). Rated insulation voltage is 750 V AC, impulse withstand voltage is 8 kV, and the short-circuit withstand rating is 80 kA — that's the fault current the enclosure can survive without rupturing when protected by the right upstream fuse. The short-circuit making capacity is 100 kA at 400 V when protected by BS fuses rated 63 A — that's the maximum fault the switch can close onto and still safely interrupt.
