160 A Fuse Switch Disconnector for Motor Branch Circuits
The GS1LB3 is the body of a TeSys GS fuse switch disconnector, rated 160 A conventional free air thermal current (Ith) at 40 °C, and 160 A in AC-23A/B duty at 400 V or 500 V — meaning it handles motor switching loads up to 80 kW at 400 V or 110 kW at 500/690 V. It accepts BS-type fuses (size /) and is rated for a making capacity of 1600 A at 400 V AC-23B and a breaking capacity of 1280 A at the same voltage — the fuses handle the interruption, but the switch body must close against and withstand those fault currents.
Lifecycle Reality: Obsolete, Sourced Through Surplus
Supply is through independent surplus and broker channels. Quantities are confirmed lot-by-lot at RFQ; no stock-holding claim is made here.
Mounting, Wiring, and Environmental Fit
The body mounts on a rail or plate (Mounting Support: Rail Plate) and measures 7.5 in wide by 6.4 in tall by 4.8 in deep — check the panel cutout and door clearance before specifying. Power circuit terminals accept flexible cable 50–95 mm² via screw terminals or bars; control circuit torque is 12 N·m. IP20 with the terminal cover fitted — suitable for enclosed panel use, not washdown. Ambient operating range is -20 °C to +70 °C, with a fire resistance rating of 960 °C on the body and 850 °C on the fuse cover per IEC 60695-2-1. The protective treatment (TH) suggests tropicalised humidity resistance.
Standards and Short-Circuit Coordination
Designed to IEC 60947-3 (switch-disconnector), with fuses per IEC 60269-1 and IEC 60269-2. Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 8 kV, insulation voltage (Ui) 750 V AC. Short-circuit withstand rating is 80 kA, and the rated short-circuit making capacity (Icm) with BS fuses is 160 kA at 400 V — the fuses themselves must be rated for that level.
