160 A switch-disconnector body for BS fuse coordination
The GS1LBR4 is a fuse switch disconnector body from the Schneider TeSys GS range, rated 160 A at 400 V in AC-23A and AC-23B duty — the switching category for motor loads with occasional inrush. Breaking capacity is 1280 A at 400 V AC-23B, with a making capacity of 1600 A at the same voltage and category, so this body coordinates with the upstream BS fuse to clear faults without welding the main contacts. Rated operational power reaches 80 kW at 400 V and 110 kW at 500 V / 690 V in AC-23 duty, covering a typical motor load range for a 160 A switch-disconnector in a distribution panel.
Panel dimensions and mounting layout
The body measures 6.2 in (157.5 mm) deep by 12.2 in (310 mm) wide by 6.4 in (162 mm) high — the width drives the enclosure cut-out and the door cut-out for the operating handle. Mounting is plate or rail (DIN rail compatible), with power circuit bars and screw terminals accepting 50 to 95 mm² flexible cable; control circuit torque is 12 N·m on the screw terminals. IP20 protection with the terminal cover fitted meets IEC 60529 — sufficient for enclosed panel use but not for washdown environments.
Standards compliance and thermal endurance
Certified to IEC 60947-3 (switch-disconnector standard) and IEC 60269-1 / -2 (fuse standards), with a body fire resistance of 960 °C per IEC 60695-2-1 and a fuse cover rated 850 °C — the glow-wire test passes at these temperatures without ignition. Rated insulation voltage is 750 V, impulse withstand voltage is 8 kV, and the conventional free-air thermal current is 160 A at 40 °C ambient — derate the continuous load if the panel ambient exceeds 40 °C. Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles; electrical durability is 1,000 cycles in AC-23A or AC-23B and 200 cycles in DC-23A or DC-23B — plan maintenance intervals around the switching duty cycle.
