The GV2ME16A is a 3-pole motor circuit breaker from Schneider's TeSys Deca range, rated 14 A line current with thermal-magnetic protection for motor overload and short-circuit isolation. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail or panel with an adaptor plate, occupies 45 mm width, and is suited for motor applications up to 5.5 kW at 400 V AC. Breaking capacity hits 100 kA Icu at 230/240 V AC (15 kA at 400 V), so it handles high fault levels common in industrial panels. Magnetic trip set at 253.4 A, and phase-failure sensitivity is included per IEC 60947-4-1. Rated uninterrupted duty, AC-3 utilisation category for motor switching. Electrical durability rated 100,000 cycles at 415 V under AC-3 and AC-3e conditions.
Standards and compliance
Listed to EN/IEC 60947-2 (circuit-breaker standard) and EN/IEC 60947-4-1 (contactor-starter standard), plus UL 60947-4-1 and CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1. Also meets IEC/EN 60335-2-40 Annex JJ and 60335-1 Clause 30.2 for fire resistance at 960 °C.
Sourcing and fit
For a replacement or new design, this GV2ME16A is a common fast mover across MRO storerooms and OEM panels. The 14 A setting covers a range of motor sizes (5.5 kW at 400 V, 9 kW at 690 V). Power dissipation per pole is 2.5 W, so vertical stacking within an enclosure needs thermal derating consideration above 40 °C ambient. Connection uses snap-in terminals for 0.75–6 mm² flexible cable (without ferrules) or 0.75–4 mm² solid. IP20 on front face, IK04 impact resistance.
