The GV3P181 is a 3-pole motor circuit breaker from the TeSys Deca range, rated 18 A continuous with a thermal-magnetic trip unit. The thermal adjustment range spans 12 to 18 A, so you set it to match the motor full-load amperage within that window. That rating holds the unit on the grid for high-fault installations. At 690 V the Icu drops to 6 kA, which still covers most motor branch circuits at that voltage level. Phase failure sensitivity is built in per IEC 60947-4-1, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker before the motor single-phases to destruction.
The 55 mm width means it occupies three standard 18 mm module positions on the rail. Depth is 136 mm, which clears most 150 mm deep enclosures, but check gland-plate clearance if the rotary handle protrudes through the door. IP20 finger-safe terminals are fine inside a locked cabinet; the enclosure itself carries IK09 impact rating. Mounting position can be horizontal or vertical with no derating, which simplifies layout in crowded panels. The rotary handle is the control type, so a door interlock or handle extension may be needed for external operation depending on enclosure design.
Compliant with EN/IEC 60947-2 (circuit-breaker standard), EN/IEC 60947-4-1 (contactor/motor-starter standard), UL 60947-4-1, and CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1. Also tested to IEC/EN 60335-1 Clause 30.2 and IEC/EN 60335-2-40 Annex JJ for glow-wire and fire resistance at 960 °C. Climatic withstand per IACS covers marine and humid environments.
Durability and thermal management
Electrical durability is 50,000 cycles at AC-3 duty at 415 V at full rated current. Mechanical durability matches at 50,000 cycles. Power dissipation is 8 W per pole, so at 18 A load the three poles together dissipate 24 W inside the enclosure. In a sealed box with multiple breakers, that heat adds up and may require derating or ventilation above 40 °C ambient. Shock rating is 15 Gn for 11 ms with the contactor open, 30 Gn closed. Vibration withstand is 4 Gn from 5 to 300 Hz.
