Overview
The HMIRSPFXA6701 is a Schneider Electric Harmony iPC industrial rack PC, a 4U Performance chassis built around an Intel Xeon quad-core 1225 processor running at 3.1 GHz with 8 MB L3 cache. It ships with 4 GB DDR3 RAM (expandable to 32 GB), a 128 GB hot-swap SSD, and a DVD-RW drive, all powered by a 500 W supply at 240 V AC. The unit mounts in a standard 19-inch rack, measures 482.6 mm wide by 172.72 mm high by 601.98 mm deep, and carries an IP40 rating for in-cabinet use. Two speed-controlled fans manage thermal load.
The Xeon quad-core processor handles control logic, HMI rendering, and data logging simultaneously. The 4 GB DDR3 RAM (one DIMM installed; three slots free) supports the operating system — Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit — and runtime applications such as Vijeo XD or EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert (demo licenses included, not full run-time). Storage is split between an internal SATA3 slot (occupied by the 128 GB SSD) and four hot-swap SATA2 trays, giving the operator live drive replacement without powering down. The Intel HD Graphics 2500 video controller drives displays up to 2048 × 1536 pixels via VGA or DVI. I/O includes dual Gigabit Ethernet, six USB ports (two USB 3.0, four USB 2.0), one RS232 serial port standard with four optional additional serial ports, and separate audio in/out. Three PCI and four PCI Express 16x slots accommodate expansion cards for vision, motion, or fieldbus.
Applications
This class of 4U rack PC is specified as the central controller or HMI platform in machine cells, packaging lines, and material-handling systems where a panel-mount PC would lack expansion capacity. The hot-swap storage and dual-fan cooling suit continuous-duty SCADA front-ends and data-acquisition servers in industrial environments.
