What this contactor is for
The LC1E160F5 is a 3-pole contactor from Schneider's Easy TeSys Control line, rated for 160 A in AC-3 duty at up to 440 V. That AC-3 utilisation category means it's built for switching squirrel-cage motors — making and breaking currents during starting and stopping, not just resistive loads. The 110 V AC 50 Hz coil keeps it simple: no DC supply needed, just a standard control transformer on the panel. It also carries an AC-1 rating for resistive loads, so it can handle heaters or lighting banks if the BOM needs a single part for mixed duty.
The 120 mm width and 158 mm height fit a standard contactor footprint; depth is 132 mm, which leaves enough room for a side-mounted auxiliary block or a mechanical interlock if you're building a reversing starter. IP2X means finger-safe from the front, but the terminals still need shrouding if the panel has live busbars exposed.
Switching timing and robustness
That matters when the contactor drives a motor and an auxiliary NC signals a safety circuit — you get a clean break-before-make window. Mechanical vibration tolerance is 1.5 Gn open, 3 Gn closed; shock tolerance is 6 Gn open, 7 Gn closed.
