What the 50 A AC-1 rating means for your panel
The LC1E38008N5WBIN is a 4-pole contactor from the Easy TeSys range, rated 50 A in AC-1 utilisation category at ≤ 415 V AC. AC-1 covers resistive loads — heaters, lighting banks, and non-inductive circuits where the current inrush is minimal. For motor duty (AC-3), you derate; this part is spec'd for resistive switching, not across-the-line motor starting. The 4-pole configuration gives 2 NO + 2 NC main poles, so you can switch a three-phase resistive load plus a neutral, or split the poles across two independent circuits.
Control circuit and coil
Pickup is guaranteed at 0.7 to 1.25 Uc; drop-out occurs between 0.3 and 0.6 Uc across -5 to 55 °C. Inrush power is 95 VA at 50 Hz, cos φ 0.75, at 20 °C. Heat dissipation from the control circuit runs 2 to 3 W. The operating time is 12 to 22 ms on closing, 4 to 19 ms on opening — fast enough for general switching but not for high-speed synchronisation.
Dimensions are 93 mm deep, 56 mm wide, 84 mm tall — a compact footprint for a 4-pole 50 A contactor. Power-circuit terminals accept 1 to 10 mm² solid or 1 to 6 mm² flexible with cable end; control-circuit terminals take 1 to 4 mm². Tightening torque is 2.1 N·m for power, 1.2 N·m for control.
The rated breaking capacity is 304 A at 440 V; the rated making capacity is 380 A at 440 V AC. Associated fuse recommendation is 63 A gG at ≤ 690 V, coordination type 1. Protective treatment is TH conforming to IEC 60068 for tropical environments.
