That AC-1 rating governs continuous current through the main poles for heating elements, lighting banks, or transformer primary switching — not motor starting. The conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) matches at 1400 A, so there is no hidden derating between the two numbers; what you read is what the bar carries. The control coil pulls 48 V DC, with a hold-in consumption of 10 W at 20 °C and an inrush of 2100 W. The pick-up and drop-out window is wide: it operates between 0.85 and 1.1 Uc and drops out between 0.3 and 0.5 Uc, which gives you margin on a sagging DC bus.
Standards and compliance — what the approvals certify
This contactor carries IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1, and CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1 compliance. That means it is listed for both IEC and North American markets without a separate UL/CSA variant. The short-time withstand ratings (Icw) are 8000 A for 10 s, 6000 A for 30 s, and 4500 A for 1 min at 40 °C — these numbers govern coordination with upstream fuses or breakers during a fault. The associated fuse recommendation is 1600 A gG at ≤440 V.
Mounting and integration — plate mount, not DIN rail
Mounting support is plate (bolted), not DIN rail. The footprint is 438 mm wide by 332 mm high by 238.6 mm deep — a large frame that needs a backplate or sub-panel, not a standard enclosure rail. Power connections are bar-type with bolted terminals torqued to 58 N·m; control wiring uses screw-clamp terminals torqued to 1.2 N·m. Heat dissipation is 10 W total at rated current, with 150 W per pole in AC-1 duty. That is significant for panel thermal calculations — the 438 mm width and plate mount are designed to shed that heat through the backplate, not through convection slots.
