Integrator's note — 1700 A resistive switching
The Schneider LC1F1700ED is a TeSys F 3-pole contactor rated 1700 A in AC-1 utilisation category — that's resistive loads like heaters, furnaces, and large lighting banks. The 48 V DC coil pulls 2100 W inrush at 20 °C, then holds at 10 W; control voltage limits are 0.85 to 1.1 Uc for pickup and 0.2 to 0.35 Uc for dropout at 55 °C. Plate-mount only — no DIN-rail option on this frame size. Power circuit uses bolted bar connections (busbar cross-section 100 x 5 mm); control circuit uses screw clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid.
Withstand and coordination
Rated short-time withstand (Icw) is 10,000 A for 10 seconds at 40 °C, stepping down to 4,200 A for 3 minutes and 3,000 A for 10 minutes. The rated breaking capacity is 2,550 A per IEC 60947-4-1. Associated fuse recommendation is 1,600 A gG at ≤ 440 V. These numbers govern the upstream protection coordination — the contactor clears faults within its withstand curve without welding contacts.
Mounting and thermal management
Plate-mounted, dimensions 438 mm wide × 332 mm high × 238.6 mm deep. Each pole dissipates 200 W at rated AC-1 current; total heat dissipation is 10 W for the coil plus 600 W across the three poles. Ambient operating range is -5 to 40 °C; storage range -60 to 80 °C. Maximum operating rate is 600 cycles per hour at 55 °C. TH protective treatment for tropical environments.
Certified to IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-1, EN 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. Rated insulation voltage 1,000 V per IEC/UL, 1,500 V per VDE 0110 group C. Impulse withstand voltage 8 kV. Overvoltage category III. Operating altitude 3,000 m without derating.
