1700 A AC-1 Power Contactor — Lifecycle & Fit
The Schneider Electric LC1F1700G7 is a TeSys F series 3-pole contactor rated for 1700 A conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) at 40 °C, with the same 1700 A figure as its AC-1 rated operational current (Ie) for resistive loads. That 1700 A number governs the real-world fit: this contactor is sized for heavy resistive heating banks, furnace elements, or large transformer primary switching — not motor starting, where the AC-3 derating would be substantially lower. The control circuit is 120 V AC, 40-400 Hz, with an inrush of 2200 VA and a hold-in draw of 36 VA.
Withstand & Breaking Capacity — Selectivity Headroom
The LC1F1700G7 carries a rated short-time withstand current (Icw) of 10,000 A for 10 seconds at 40 °C, stepping down to 7500 A for 30 s, 5500 A for 1 minute, 4200 A for 3 minutes, and 3000 A for 10 minutes. That 10 kA / 10 s figure is the one a site electrical engineer checks for coordination with upstream protection — it tells you the contactor can ride through a delayed fault long enough for the feeder breaker to clear, provided the let-through energy stays under the I²t curve. Rated breaking capacity is 2550 A per IEC 60947-4-1, and the associated fuse recommendation is 1600 A gG at ≤ 440 V.
Mounting & Termination — Panel Integration
Plate-mounted (not DIN-rail), with overall dimensions of 438 mm wide, 332 mm high, and 238.6 mm deep. Power circuit termination uses bar-type connectors accepting up to three cables per pole with a 100 x 5 mm busbar cross-section, torqued to 58 N·m. Control circuit wiring uses screw-clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid conductors, torqued to 1.2 N·m. The power pole contact composition is 3 NO.
Certified to IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 1000 V per IEC/UL 60947-4-1, with an impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) of 8 kV. Overvoltage category III. Protective treatment is TH for tropical environments.
