What the 1700 A AC-1 rating means for your load
The LC1F1700RD is a 3-pole contactor from the TeSys F range, rated 1700 A conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) and 1700 A operational current in AC-1 duty (resistive loads) at 40 °C. The contactor is listed for resistive load application per IEC 60947-4-1 and UL 60947-4-1, so if your BOM calls for switching a 1600 A resistive circuit, this part's thermal capacity and associated fuse rating of 1600 A gG at ≤440 V align directly. The control circuit is DC standard at 440 V nominal, with an operational range of 0.85 to 1.1 Uc at 55 °C and a drop-out band of 0.2 to 0.35 Uc. Inrush power is 2100 W at 20 °C, settling to 10 W holding; dissipation is 200 W per pole AC-1.
Mounting and integration — plate mount, not DIN
Mounting support is plate — not DIN rail — so the contactor bolts directly to a backplate or sub-panel. Dimensions are 438 mm wide by 332 mm high by 238.6 mm deep, which is the footprint you need to reserve in the enclosure. Power circuit connections use bars: three cables per pole with a busbar cross-section of 100 x 5 mm. Control circuit wiring uses screw clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid (with or without ferrule). Tightening torque is 58 N.m on the power circuit and 1.2 N.m on the control circuit.
Withstand and coordination
Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 10,000 A for 10 seconds, 7500 A for 30 seconds, and 5500 A for 1 minute at 40 °C — figures that drive selectivity studies and upstream breaker coordination. Rated breaking capacity is 2550 A per IEC 60947-4-1.
