TeSys F LC1F4004UD — 4-Pole DC Contactor, 500 A AC-1
The LC1F4004UD is a 4-pole DC-operated contactor from the Schneider TeSys F range, rated for 500 A in AC-1 (resistive load) duty at ≤440 V and ≤104 °F. That AC-1 rating governs the continuous current the main poles can carry through heating elements, ovens, or resistive banks — not motor starting. The 4 NO power pole configuration means all four poles close together on a DC coil pull-in. Control circuit is 250 V DC standard, with a hold-in power draw of 6 W at 68 °F and inrush of 1000 W during pickup. The dropout threshold sits at 20–35 % of Uc, so a sagging DC bus below about 50 V will release the armature cleanly — no partial engagement. Rated breaking capacity is 3200 A per IEC 60947-4-1, and the associated fuse recommendation is 400 A aM or 500 A gG at ≤440 V. That tells you the upstream short-circuit protection the contactor expects for type-2 coordination.
Mounting is plate-based — no DIN rail clip on this frame size. The footprint measures 10.3 in wide × 8.1 in tall × 8.6 in deep. Power connections use bar or ring terminals accepting up to 150 mm² cable; control circuit terminals take 1–4 mm² flexible or solid via screw clamp. Tightening torque for the power circuit is 309.8 lbf·in — substantial, so a torque wrench is expected in the panel shop. Front face carries IP20 protection with shrouds fitted. Operating altitude goes to 3000 m without derating. Storage temperature spans –76 to 176 °F, which covers most warehouse conditions but not extended outdoor exposure.
Certified to EN 60947-1, EN 60947-4-1, IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. Overvoltage category III. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 and 1500 V per VDE 0110 group C. Protective treatment is TH (tropicalized) for humid environments.
