Rating and duty
The Schneider Electric LC1G115BEEA is a 3-pole TeSys Giga contactor rated for 115 A in AC-3 duty — that puts it on motor loads up to 55 kW at 400 V or 75 hp at 460 V 60 Hz. The AC-3e rating is the same current envelope, but with slightly lower thermal dissipation if the drive profile demands it. Rated breaking capacity is 1040 A at 440 V, making capacity 1560 A — enough headroom for across-the-line starting of squirrel-cage motors in that power band. Mechanical durability is 8 Mcycles, so the drive side of the BOM stays in the panel for the machine's design life if the electrical load stays within the AC-3 curve.
Coil and control
The coil accepts 24 to 48 V AC or DC without a separate bridge rectifier; the built-in bidirectional peak limiting clamps transients from the control transformer or PLC output. Inrush power at DC is 220 W, holding current is lower — verify the drive capacity of your 24 VDC supply if you are ganging several contactors. Auxiliary contacts are 1 NO + 1 NC, standard for feedback to the safety circuit or PLC input. The contact block is integrated, no separate add-on required. Operating time is 40 to 70 ms closing, 15 to 50 ms opening — fast enough for interlocking but check your sequential logic if a sub-cycle response is needed.
Termination and enclosure
Power circuit terminals accept bar, busbar up to 25 x 6 mm, or lugs up to 185 mm². Tightening torque is 18 N·m. Control circuit wiring uses push-in terminals: solid or stranded without ferrule from 0.2 to 2.5 mm², or flexible with ferrule up to 2.5 mm². Strip length for push-in is not given in the spec, but standard practice is 8-10 mm. No screwdriver needed for the control wiring. Front face with shrouds achieves IP2X — finger-safe for installation in a panel with a door. Plan for bolt-on fastening to a backplate.
Compliance and environment
The contactor is listed under multiple global standards: EN/IEC 60947-4-1 and -5-1, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No. 60947-4-1, JIS C8201-4-1 and -5-1. It also meets IEC 60335-1 clause 30.2 and -2-40 Annex JJ — relevant for appliances and HVAC equipment where contactors see high ambient temperatures. Protective treatment is TH (tropicalized) — suitable for environments with high humidity or condensation. Power dissipation per pole is 3 W at Ith 115 A in AC-3 duty.
